Skydive for Charity!

Happy 102nd Birthday Manette, what an amazing woman…what an inspiration!

Manette decided to celebrate her 102nd birthday with a charity skydive for the causes: East Anglian Air Ambulance, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Benhall Village Hall. She is officially the oldest Brit to skydive in history! An  incredible £9,000 has been raised so far!  On her 100th birthday, Manette drove a Ferrari round a racetrack at 130mph! She truly is a dare devil who deserves all the praise and is braver than most people. 👏

Manette, we all admire your bravery and thoughtfulness to complete your skydive for charity. Please watch the video below –

Inspiring words from Manette – “I’m about to go up, I’m delighted”, “I must admit I shut my eyes very firmly”, “I just want other people who are getting towards 80 and 90 not to give up anything. Just keep going”.

If you have been inspired by Manette and would be interested in ticking off your bucket list while raising funds for like Brighterway and your local NHS, please do not hesitate in emailing us at – phil.pride@southernhealth.nhs.uk

Southfield Fete – Wednesday 14th August 2024

Brighterway have been working with Southfields over the last few months to help organise their annual fete! Although the weather wasn’t on our side (☔), it was great to see so many service users, families and staff from both Southfield and Ashford getting involved! Through the rain, we enjoyed open mic sessions, sports day games, cake sale, plant sale, tombola, diamond art sale!💙
We would like to thank everyone for your efforts on the day and also for purchasing a plant from our plant stand! 🌈  Take a look at the video below to see the many activities and stands which were at the fete!https://www.brighterway.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Socials-video.mp4

New Forest Show 2024

Brighterway Charity and SHFT attended all three days of The New Forest Show 2024 – Tuesday 30th July, Wednesday 31st July and Thursday 1st August. This event is one of the most popular events in the area filled with livestock competitions, equestrian events, flower and garden show, fun forest activities, local food and drink stalls, craft vendors, educational exhibits, and entertaining performances. It is a great family day out and a celebration of
Summer.

Through these scorching hot days, we talked and listened to many of you and enjoyed seeing you take part in our activities! On our Brighterway stand we had colleagues from different areas in the Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust –

·        Carers and Patients Support Hub who shared information about the hub and how they support.

·        Friends of Lymington Hospital who shared information about what projects they have completed and future opportunities. Brighterway are currently working closely with Friends of Lymington on the Wellbeing Trail Walk at the hospital. This trail is an opportunity for patients and staff to walk around, take a minute to themselves and breathe in the fresh air.

·        LEAD Training who conducted the CPR Challenge and taught visitors how to correctly perform CPR.

·        First Light Trust for Veterans who assisted Brighterway on the plant stand.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards Brighterway.
This will assist us to complete more projects which will enhance patients’ and
staff experience. The funds we raised were 25% higher than 2 years ago when we
last attended the show. It was lovely to see the whole community come together
for this event.
